Settlers come to New Zealand (summer learning journey)

For my second activity for week one was looking at settlers come to New Zealand. I had to ready a short story and write a letter to my friend and imagining that I was on one of the wakas. Here is my letter and a story about how I felt when I was on the wakas. Hope you enjoy.

Dear Tracey I am writing to you in my waka I and my family is now travailing thousands of miles to New Zealand. Me and my sister are having fun touching the water and also liking the view on the waka. As I and my family in this waka I kind of feel a little sad and happy moving to another country  at the same time because I am travailing far away from my usual home but I feel happy too that I get to see new places when I go to New Zealand.By Moni:)

  1. Kia ora Anitimoni,

My name is Rachel and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey blogging programme. Like you, I would have had mixed emotions about traveling so far across the ocean. It would be very hard to leave my home but also quite exciting to imagine what life could be like in a brand new place.

I felt that way when I moved to New Zealand from my home country of Canada seven years ago. I actually moved exactly seven years ago today (22 December). That's a pretty amazing thought! I hope that you have the chance to explore new places and travel to new destinations one day.

In the meantime, enjoy your summer break and keep up with this awesome blogging. We love reading your posts!

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)

    1. Kia ora Moni,

Thanks for writing back so quickly! It's so cool to know that you came to New Zealand from elsewhere, just like I did. I'm really glad that you like living here in New Zealand. I think that we're very lucky to be able to call a place as beautiful as NZ, 'home.'

I look forward to reading more of your posts over the coming weeks. Nicky is currently on holiday but she will be back in January and really keen to keep blogging with you then!

      Cheers,
      Rachel :)
